Our expert Employment Lawyers can guide you through the maze of legislation and provide a clear translation of today’s legislative requirements.
There is growing instability in today’s workplace due to an increase in legislative requirements and ever changing working patterns. In recent years there has been a tranche of new legislation coming into the UK from Europe through European directives. This includes:
- Working Time Regulations
- Flexible Time Regulations
- Paternity Rights
- Maternity Rights
Additionally, there is a plethora of statutory instruments relating to these directives, and employers need to ensure that this legislation is applied in the work place.
Specific New Legislation
In October 2004 we saw the introduction of the Statutory Grievance procedure (Dispute Resolution, Regulations 2004) whereby if employers failed to comply with their grievance and disciplinary procedures in relation to their employees, then they would be at serious risk of unfair dismissal claims. In 2006 we saw the introduction of the Age Discrimination Act.
Never has it been more important to have clear legal basis for all employer/ employee relationships. As an employer, it is vital to ensure that you have an effective contractual relationship and the security of knowing that you meet the ever-increasing scope legislative requirements.
