Employment

At Blackhams we recognise that being involved in a dispute at work or being unfairly dismissed is a very emotional and troubled time for any individual. The world of Employment Law is a virtual minefield of very short time limits and procedural requirements, which needs expert handling, guidance and assistance.

We are able to draw on our considerable wealth of experience in handling such claims, including offering advocacy before the Employment Tribunal. Of particular advantage to our clients is the fact that we respond quickly and effectively to their concerns and deal with their claims in a pragmatic, considerate and professional manner.

It is our practice to represent you personally at hearings before the Employment Tribunal and it is the ethos of the firm that you have direct access to the lawyer handling your claim.

We can offer advice and assistance in respect of ALL workplace issues including:

  • Contracts of employment
  • Disciplinary procedures
  • Redundancy and severance agreements
  • Health & safety matters
  • Maternity rights
  • Unfair dismissal
  • Discrimination claims and restrictive covenants

We appreciate that at a time when you may have lost your job or have redundancy fears, you feel vulnerable and need sympathetic and caring advice.

We pride ourselves on advising our clients in an understandable, straightforward manner and the fact that you have personal access to the lawyer dealing with your claim means that you will always know what is happening.

We offer a FREE initial assessment of your claim. This can be done in person or by telephone, with initial contact via email welcomed. We will advise you whether your claim is likely to be successful. If so, we will act for you under a genuine “No Win, No Fee” agreement (although it may be that you have legal expenses insurance that will fund your claim).

Time limits within which to make claims to an Employment Tribunal are very short and you normally have only 3 months from (say) the date of dismissal within which to take action. It is vitally important that you do not delay in taking legal advice about your case.
