Change of Name Deeds

It is perfectly legal for anyone in the UK over the age of 16 to call themselves by whatever name they wish, provided they do not intend to defraud anyone by using the new name.

However in order to obtain certain important documents, including passports or driving licences, then some formal evidence is required. Either a change of name deed or a more formal Statutory Declaration is required. If you want to change your name, the simplest, quickest and most efficient way of doing so is by having a change of name deed drafted for you by our experienced family law team.

A Statutory Declaration is a more formal legal document, which is often required by financial institutions as evidence of a name change. Again, these can be drawn up by our family law team. Statutory Declarations also require to be sworn in the presence of a solicitor.
